Third Quarter Art and Chinese Project: Chinese Scroll
During third quarter, we learned the basics of Chinese calligraphy and painting. As a final project, we each created a scroll that consists of a painting, a poem, and a personal stamp. We spent multiple weeks making drafts of our scrolls and then another week on the actual painting of the scroll. We spent the next week creating and stamping our scrolls with a personal stamp and then spent the rest of the week hanging the scrolls with dowel rods. This project demonstrated creativity because we each had to come up with a unique and well balanced design that conformed to the elements of the beautiful Chinese paintings. These scrolls also demonstrated the quality of persistence. Persistence was demonstrated through the multiple drafts, practices, and demonstrations we did and watched so that we could do our best on our final version.
