My internship was serving as part of the staff for a week-long leadership training course. The desciption below and the attached PDF both give more information as to what NYLT is and what my job was as part of the staff.

One of the major events that I helped organize for the Boy Scouts was the Tecumseh Council National Youth Leadership Training course (NYLT). This week-long course is designed to teach older Scouts how to be effective leaders in every aspect of their spirit and knowledge. I worked on staff as a Troop Guide responsible for working with the six scouts assigned to me. The planning of NYLT started six months before the actual camp start date and the staff would sometimes spend entire weekends at a local church planning this event. During the week of the course, everyone camps at the training site and the staff comes out three days in advance to set up and finish final preparations. The course itself is very complex and it challenges each boy to review the decisions he makes and choose if they really are the best decisions. After the completion of this course, there is not a single parent who wouldn’t say that their son seems to have changed for the better.
